If you are looking for character dining in Disneyland, Goofy’s Kitchen is one of the best. Here is everything you need to know about this awesome character breakfast.
Character Dining in Disneyland

When people think of taking a Disney vacation, they often envision starting the day with a delightful character breakfast. While there are lots of options for character dining at Walt Disney World, Disneyland is a bit more limited in its offerings.
Right now, Disneyland offers 4 character breakfasts. You will want to read about them to pick the best one for you.
First of all, you can enjoy the Minnie and Friends Breakfast at the Plaza Inn in Disneyland Park. This is perfect for those who want to dine inside of Disneyland and experience a variety of characters. You can read our review HERE.

Or if you are looking for Princesses, head over to The Grand Californian for Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures. Just be prepared because it does start at $134.99 per person. You can read our review HERE.
If you prefer classic characters, the Grand Californian is also introducing Tales of Adventure Buffet Storytellers Cafe. You can read about it HERE.
But if you want a good balance of pricing, good food, and great fun, consider booking Goofy’s Kitchen. It is character dining at its finest.
Goofy’s Kitchen

If you are a Disney World regular, Goofy’s Kitchen might sound like it is something akin to Chef Mickey’s. And, in many ways, the two are similar. In fact, our server told us that Chef Mickey’s was the inspiration for Goofy’s Kitchen.
However, this is an example of the student outperforming the master. While both are a good time, Goffy’s Kitchen is much better than Chef Mickey’s.
You will find Goofy’s Kitchen at Disneyland Hotel. And, you can book it even if you are not staying at the hotel. It is a relatively short walk to get there through Downtown Disney.
Characters

One of the nice things about Goofy’s Kitchen is that the character interactions are delightful. My (Kate’s) family visited during one of the busiest weeks of the year to ring in the New Year, and the interactions were intentional, did not feel rushed, and a whole lot of fun. The Disneyland characters know how to make guests feel special, especially the kids!
Expect to meet Goofy, Pluto, Chip, Dale, and Minnie Mouse dressed in chef outfits!
While you are there, you will meet Chef Goofy himself. He typically takes photos with guests on the way in.

Pluto, Chip, Dale, and Minnie Mouse greet diners at their tables. The characters are subject to availability, but it is relatively consistent compared to Napa Rose or Plaza Inn, where you never know exactly who you might see on any given day.
The characters also parade around the restaurant and dance. This is not a parade for guests to hop up and join. However, it is fun to watch.
Pricing

Goofy’s kitchen is by no means inexpensive. It starts at $55 per adult and $33 per child for breakfast. However, this fluctuates seasonally and can be as much as $65 per adult and $35 per child.
Even so, the pricing is relatively consistent with other character dining locations, and it is significantly less expensive than Napa Rose. Plus, the expansive variety and decent quality of the food help add value to the meal compared to other dining experiences. It is not something I regret spending money on.
Seating, Ambiance, and Timing

The restaurant has plenty of seating. In terms of acoustics, it is not quiet, but it is not nearly as loud as some character meals tend to be.
The decor is bright and colorful. It is not an aesthetic I’d want to decorate a home with, but it is fun and zany, the sort of thing you would expect for a character meal.
This meal was not rushed, the way some character meals can be. It is wise to plan at least 90 minutes to see the characters and enjoy the food.
The Menu

Goofy’s Kitchen is a buffet meal. So, during the meal, you will need to be prepared to balance character interactions with leaving your table to fill your plate.
Your server will take your drink order and keep your beverages filled. At breakfast, you can order water, milk, juices, coffee, tea, or even hot chocolate. There are also premium options for an additional cost.
Omelet Station

One of the most popular parts of the meal is the Make Your Own Omelet Station. We booked a very early reservation and put in our orders here first. If you want to have an omelet, I encourage you to go early because it will have a solid line once the restaurant fills up.
Omelet stations aren’t always known for churning out delicious food, but we liked our omelets. The chef did a better job of getting the cheese to melt than at other places we have visited with similar stations.

As you can see, one of my little ones had an omelet with bacon and gummy worms. She also had a huge bowl of strawberries. Disney really does make dreams come true.
The Buffet

The buffet at Goofy’s Kitchen has so much variety. It makes it difficult to try everything!
I would say that the hot selections is where Goofy’s Kitchen shines. Be ready to navigate a buffet full of special items like Breakfast Pizza & Peanut Butter Jelly Pizza! These were both favorites on our table. There was also plain cheese pizza.

Savory options include Pork Belly Chilaquiles, Egg White Frittata with Spinach, Tomato, and Green Asparagus, and Classic Eggs Benedict with Hollandaise. You might even find avocado toast or deviled eggs, and other offerings seasonally.
You will typically find a carving station at Goofy’s Kitchen, too. Delicious sliced ham is usually on the menu.

There are lots of baked goods. These include: Mini Danishes, Croissants, Cinnamon Rolls, and Muffins. Or you can build Mini Bagels with Assorted Cream Cheese. You can add Smoked Salmon, Cream Cheese, Onions, Capers, Tomato, and Chives.
Don’t forget to grab Disney classics like Mickey Waffles! Or enjoy Mickey Pancakes. There is also brioche French toast available, but it is not Mickey-shaped.

You can build your own Granola Parfait with Flavored Yogurt and Granola or enjoy Coconut Chia Parfait with Berries. Top it with Assorted Sliced Fruits and Strawberries or build a fruit bowl!
If you like, you can also enjoy cereals with milk. Or load up Steel Cut Oatmeal with Brown Sugar and Raisins.

There was even a selection of mixed greens and plenty of salad fixings when we visited. It is a good option if you want a healthier meal.
Dessert

There is dessert on the menu even at breakfast! What a way to start a morning!
Goofy’s Kitchen offers lots of selections, including chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal raisin cookies, apple strudel, pumpkin loaf, cinnamon rolls, and brownies. The lemon bars and bread pudding are especially nice touches.
The kids were also delighted that soft serve ice cream was on the menu! Be sure to save room for dessert if the ice cream machine is up and running.

You could use the soft serve to top other dessert options. Or, you can build a classic sundae! There are plenty of toppings available to make just the right thing.
Even better, there are waffle cones available in an array of flavors. I was especially impressed with this as it is a nice departure from the standard sugar cones typically available.
Swag

In addition to the photos with Goofy at the beginning of the meal, Goofy’s Kitchen also gives diners a little gift. Everyone gets a Goofy’s Kitchen button to commemorate the experience.
Overall Experience

Considering the balance between great character interactions and enjoyable food options, Goofy’s Kitchen is easily one of the best Disney character breakfast experiences we have had. Some of the character meals are one-and-done for me, but this is one my family will likely return to someday.
Overall, if you are looking for character fun with decent food, and you wish to dine in Disneyland Hotel, Goofy’s Kitchen is a winner.
