Tropical Storm Helene
Earlier today we shared that a Tropical Storm is expected to affect Disney World and the surrounding areas this week.
The National Weather Service says that conditions in the Central Florida area are expected to get worse Wednesday night into Thursday morning. 50-60mph gusts are possible on Thursday as the storm passes.
The storm is expected to become a hurricane when it reaches land later this week. See our most recent updates HERE and HERE.
Disney’s Statement
As of today, September 24, Disney is asking Guests staying at Fort Wilderness to remove outside decor. They are also offering a stay at a different Resort.
Other than that, Disney World is operating under normal conditions. See their statement here:
Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating under normal conditions. We are closely monitoring the path of the storm as we continue to prioritize the safety of our Guests and Cast Members.
Universal’s Statement
Universal Studios also shared a statement regarding Tropical Storm Helene:
At this time, our park operations and hours are continuing as normal. We are closely monitoring the weather. Please check back for updates.
Both parks are currently operating as normal. As flooding and wind gusts pick up, we expect many outdoor experiences to be altered or even cancelled. You can also expect airline delays and cancellations coming in and out of the Orlando International Airport.
We will continue to monitor the situation for any developments. Stay tuned and stay safe!
