Hurricane season is from June 1 to November 30. However hurricanes aren’t the only severe weather that Florida sees. They also see severe heat, tornadoes warnings, and even cold temperatures.

The Orlando area is expected to see 2 to 3 inches of widespread rain this weekend. They are also expected to see wind gusts up to 35 mph! Because of this several Orlando parks have already closed for the weekend. You can read that HERE and HERE.

Disney has also canceled Jollywood for tonight, due to the expected weather. You can see those details HERE.

At Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground you will find trails, two pools and entertainment and activities of all kinds! This resort is unique as you won’t find any other resort like it at Disney. The resort opened on November 19, 1971. It consists of both campsites and cabins for guests to enjoy.

When campers come to Fort Wilderness (known to many as The Fort), they go all out with their campsite decorations. These include lights, signs and blowups! Campers love to go looping’ while staying at The Fort.

The current cabins will soon be transitioned into DVC’s newest property. You can get a first look inside HERE. Also, check out our complete guide to The Fort HERE.

Today, Guests staying at The Fort have received a letter from Disney. This letter reads:

“Dear Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground Guests,

As you may be aware, we are anticipating potential inclement weather this weekend. The storm may bring high winds in this area beginning Saturday, Dec. 16. As we continue to monitor the weather, we are asking that all Guests remove and stow all outside items, including decor, and take in camper awnings. We ask for your assistance and cooperation in removing these items. The safety of our Guests and Cast is always our first priority and we will have Cast Members available to assist with these requests.

Fort Wilderness Guests are being asked to bring in all outside items, including décor and camper awnings. Guests staying in a tent are being moved to alternate accommodations.

With the gusty winds moving in this weekend, Disney wants to be sure that all Guests remain safe. This isn’t the first time that Disney has issued warnings for Guests staying at The Fort. In fact, the Fort has closed before because of hurricanes.

Hopefully, the weather won’t impact too many vacation plans, and Guests visiting Disney World this weekend can still have a magical time.
