Last week, Walt Disney World closed for two days as Hurricane Ian made its course toward the Walt Disney World Resort. You can read about flooding at the Swan and Dolphin and damaged buildings at the Contemporary in this post. There was a phased reopening for the Disney Parks and some attractions had delayed reopenings due to possible complications from the storm.

Yesterday we shared that a temporary change has been made for the Flotillas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom due to the effects of this storm. You can check out this new temporary change HERE. Also, check out how Kilimanjaro Safari was affected HERE.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground was closed and evacuated prior to Hurricane Ian’s arrival in Central Florida. Click HERE to read the letter that Fort Guests received prior to the campground closure.

At this time Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground (including the dinner show Hoop Dee Doo Revue) will remain temporarily closed at this time. Disney confirms that they are contacting Guests with current and upcoming reservations.

Earlier this week we shared a rumored opening date for The Fort. You can check that out HERE.

We now have a confirmed date of when The Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground will reopen! The Fort will reopen to Guests on Friday, October 7th.

It is confirmed on Disney’s website that The Fort will reopen to Guests on Friday, October 7th.

This is exciting news! I (Heather) am happy to hear this news, as I will be visiting The Fort soon! I would strongly recommend doing online check-in, so that you can head to your campsite or cabin as soon as it is ready. Happy camping crew!
