New alcohol policy goes into effect at Disney World hotels

This new policy could definitely make getting alcohol a bit harder. What do you think of this change?

Alcohol at Disney

Love it or hate it, alcohol flows freely at Disney World. All four parks serve alcohol, Disney Springs has an active nightlife, and Guests can consume alcohol bars and lounges at every Disney hotel.

Not only that, but alcohol can even be delivered to your hotel. With grocery delivery to your room more popular than ever, it is incredibly easy to get food and beverages to your hotel. If you room is not ready or you plan to be gone during your arrival window, Bell Services will hold your groceries and deliver it to your room at your convenience.

For better or for worse, this has created more work for Cast Members at hotel. Not only do they need the space to hold so many bags, but they need more Cast Members to deliver said goods.

It also creates an issue for alcohol, which requires Guests to be 21 years old to consume here in the United States. There was a bit of a confusion for a while.

Some vendors were able to deliver alcohol while others were not. Sometimes Guests needed to be present to show ID in order for Disney to accept it.

Now, Disney is making it even across the board with this new policy. Effective August 1, 2023, Disney will no longer hold alcohol for you at bell services.

If your grocery order contains alcohol, they will not accept it. You will need to be present to accept your alcohol if you are having groceries delivered.

You may remember a few years ago Disney made another change. They no longer hold perishable food items at Bell Services. That means Guests with split stays who do not have their own vehicle must get rid of any unused goods before moving to a different hotel.

  1. Git rid of alcohol people don’t know when to stop and I’ve seen it over n over drunk asses being obnoxious in the parks n hotels! Why would you spend the price of a park ticket to sit n drink n get wasted!

  2. We belong to DVC and only do 2 meals per day. We buy snacks, desserts and beverages. To keep in our room.

  3. So, with all due respect, why even comment on a situation that you've clearly stated has nothing to with you? Honestly?

  4. Water is free at the parks and in the hotels. Using the provided cups in the room or a reusable water bottle also saves money.

  5. While this doesn't affect me as I always have a vehicle, I can see where it would upset some guests. Now there are some trucks of the trade though. Take a bus to the Springs walk across the street to the speedway and buy there. If your on an international flight but at the duty free and put it in your luggage. Finally if you need that much alcohol on your trip to Disney, then maybe Disney is not for you. I would still get a rental car if your not driving your car. That way you have a way to go to the store for emergencies like a blowout in your shoes or you need something for the kids who get sick.

  6. Oh, and goong through bags, fanny packs, and strollers is illegal in your eyes as well. Disney absolutely has the right to go through your bag of geoceries if delivered to Bell Services, at least prior to this new policy. At a mjnimum, it is a security issue.

  7. Just another way for their guests to buy drinks on property and add more money to their pockets. MGM Mickey's got money

  8. Absolute pit of laziness. We never consumed alcohol at Disney because we never consumed it anywhere! But we also never visit Disney anymore either we've aged out they ain't interested in people over 50 or under 21.

  9. That will never happen because of dietary restrictions. I can't imagine the Disney Park food is celiac friendly...

  10. I think going through my groceries from a store is against the law. Their name isn't on it and I don't like strangers going through my food. Would you just please gtg out of Florida.

  11. Why would you buy groceries anyway?? Your on vacation. Your at a resort. Go get some alcohol at the resort they all sell bottles of everything. They should ban all food from outside too. Totally fine with me.

    1. I love buying groceries. If I'm trying to save some money it's a great way to get water bottles at a much cheaper price than in the parks. I can get a 24 pack for about the same price as a single bottle in the parks. We also bought heat-and-serve sides to go with our steaks and hamburgers when we stayed at the Cabins at Fort Wilderness. It's a great way to save money and still keep the same foods in rotation (my kids are used to certain foods and tend to waste a lot in the parks because it doesn't taste the same as home). I am very thankful Disney allows outside food in the parks and at the hotels.

  12. I like it. Everyone seems to forget what Walt said about alcohol when planning his first park. “No liquor, no beer, nothing"”

  13. It's all profit oriented. They're obviously attempting to get guests to buy from them instead of off property
