New Changes Aboard Disney World's Monorail
Guests were surprised by this recent change aboard Walt Disney World's monorail. Find out what to expect before your next trip aboard the "Highway in the Sky".
Disney Monorail System

Disney World's monorail system opened on October 1, 1971, with the rest of Walt Disney World and quickly became a favorite of many! The monorail cruises above the Seven Seas Lagoon, offering Guests a spectacular view from this "Highway in the Sky."
The monorail system covers a vast 14 miles and can travel up to 40 miles per hour!
Offering access to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, the Ticket and Transportation Center, and several resorts, the monorail is a quick and efficient way to get around Walt Disney World. Many argue that the monorail is the best transportation at Disney World. Check out the recent upgrade that the monorail system got HERE.
Monorail New Narration

Previously, while enjoying the monorail towards EPCOT, Guests would enjoy promises of attractions to come; these have now been removed (such as the Play Pavilion).
Most notably, there is a reference to Soarin' with no specification to Soarin' Around the World or Soarin' Across America. We do love the vision of EPCOT explained as the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow.
Instead of highlighting countries around the World Showcase, narration now refers to the various neighborhoods of EPCOT.
No Smoking or Vaping Reminder

There is also a new warning aboard the Walt Disney World monorail reminding Guests, "For the comfort of others, no smoking or vaping, please, thank you."
New narration has now been added aboard Walt Disney World's monorail.
Back in May 2019, Disney Parks banned smoking and vaping at all U.S. theme parks. Designated smoking areas will be available outside the entrances of all Disney Parks and at designated locations at Disney Springs and Disney Resorts. Find full details HERE.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Donna loved Disney from an early age. As a child, her family would joke that she lived in "Donna Land." As an adult, she enjoys planning and creating magical vacations for her family. She always brings a little faith, trust, and a little bit of Pixie Dust!

Does the Monorail announcement still include, "Please stand clear of the doors. Por favor manténgase alejado de las puertas?" This is the key thing to me. It means get moving, my vacation is in progress!
