From time to time Disney has scheduled refurbishments for anything from rides and restaurants to hotels. We all want to be able to enjoy the nice new things, and refurbishments have to happen for this to occur.

Even though we all may not like seeing or hearing construction, it is a necessary part of keeping things safe and up to date.

Refurbishments can occur on things such as attractions, hotels, restaurants, walkways, pools, and buildings. Disney does their best to notify Guests ahead of time of these refurbishments especially if they could impact the Guest experience.

Echo Lake Drained

A new refurbishment is happening at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Refurbishment work is happening on SS Down the Hatch. S.S. Down the Hatch is the steamboat that is in Echo Lake that houses the quick service location, Dockside Diner.

For this refurbishment, Disney has drained Echo Lake and scaffolding has been placed around S.S. Down the Hatch.

How Does This Impact Guests?

Guests can still enjoy Dockside Diner during this refurbishment as it has remained open. Views of Echo Lake will be disrupted due to the lake being emptied.

Signage around Echo Lake states "Please pardon our appearance...Echo Lake is being refurbished for your future enjoyment."

Disney has not shared any details on how long the refurbishment will last, or how long the lake will remain empty.
