Could The NEW Disney Vacation Club Polynesian Tower Be its Own Resort?

Could The NEW Disney Vacation Club Polynesian Tower Be its Own Resort?

Construction on the newest Disney Vacation Club Resort at Disney World is quickly being completed. As the tower continues to be built, we are all left wondering how things will play out. Will the new tower be its own resort or part of the Polynesian Villas and Bungalows? We have a clue that gives us an idea.

On March 15, 2022 Disney Vacation Club announced an addition to the Polynesian. The planned opening timeline is late 2024.

Based off the concept art and watching the tower construction, it looks to be a fairly large building. Currently, there are only studios (which sleep 5) and bungalows at the Polynesian. Hopefully we will see a mixture of 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom villas in this new accommodation.

Canceled Project

With Disney Vacation Club adding the tower to the Polynesian, the Lakeside Lodge project seemed to be canceled.

Work has been stalled here for what seems like forever. If they aren’t building anything here, it would be nice to have the path back that connects Fort Wilderness Campground and the Wilderness Lodge again. I know I miss it.

Its own resort?

In the Disney Vacation Club Public Offering Statement, they mention “Disney’s Polynesian Hotel.” In the documents when referring to the current DVC villas at the Polynesian, they are referred to as “Polynesian Villas & Bungalows.” They do not refer to it as the Polynesian Villas and Bungalows. What does this mean?

This could mean that this will be its own resort or association and it will look similar to Wilderness Lodge hosting two DVC resorts (Boulder Ridge and Copper Creek). When they added more villas to the Grand Floridian it was added on as an addition and not another resort.

With Disney using wording such as “Disney’s Polynesian Hotel” versus “Polynesian Villas & Bungalows” there is a possibility that this will be a completely new resort.

It is extremely important to note that if this resort opens up as its own resort and not part of the Polynesian Villas and Bungalows that current owners at the Polynesian will not have home resort benefits to this new tower.

Also, the strict guidelines with resale memberships would go into effect. If you purchased this resort from the resale market (not directly through Disney) you would only be able to book here (your home resort). Also with this restriction, you wouldn’t be able to book here if you purchased a different home resort on the resale market.

This is our best guess of what we will see, but hopefully we won’t have to wait too much longer.

What do you think? Will the new tower be its own resort or a new addition to the Polynesian Villas and Bungalows? Let us know in the comments below and be sure to share this post with a friend.

This statement is incorrect "Also with this restriction, you wouldn’t be able to book here if you purchased a different home resort on the resale market." You most certainly can book there if you purchased resale and were grandfathered in before the resale rule for new resorts took effect.

DVC has become a joke. Doesn't matter.
