Tron Lightcycle Power Run roller coaster was first introduced to guests at Shanghai Disneyland Resorts. In this thrilling attraction, riders hop aboard motorcycle-style ride vehicles as they speed through the dark ride. It’s even more exciting because it is one of the fastest indoor coasters in the history of Disney’s parks.

The attraction is based on Disney’s 1982 film TRON. The movie has the distinction of being the first film to combine live-action sequences with computer-generated and animated elements. Each day seems to point to another sign of the attraction opening. See the latest progress for Disney’s TRON in this post HERE.

Tron will open for guests on April 4, 2023. We now have a confirmed height requirement for this ride and also confirmed locker systems for guests to use.

How to Ride Tron

Walt Disney World has now confirmed that there will be no standby queue option for TRON when it opens. As with Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, there could be two ways to enjoy this attraction: a virtual queue and Individual Lightning Lane Selections. The free way to ride is through the virtual queue. The virtual queue is a lottery-type system that gives you a boarding group.

The first virtual queue opens at 7:00 am. Later in the day, guests can also try to join a virtual queue at 1:00 pm. Guests may also have the option to purchase an Individual Lightning Lane for this attraction. At this time Disney has not released a price point.

It could be similar to Cosmic Rewind from $15-$20 or could possibly mirror the price for rides like Rise of the Resistance and go up to $29. Guests can enjoy TRON Lightcycle Run two times in one day if they obtain a boarding group through the virtual queue and also pay for an Individual Lightning Lane. With Extended Evening Hours, it also seems reasonable that guests staying at select resorts may have the option to join an additional virtual queue for dates with Extended Evening Hours at Magic Kingdom.

Walt Disney World has now confirmed that there will be no standby queue option for TRON when it opens. As with Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, there could be two ways to enjoy this attraction: a virtual queue and Individual Lightning Lane Selections.

So plan on no riding it, we just went to WDW and tried to get into guardian of the Galaxy for my kiddos Bday and paid for a lightening lane and got up and on at 7am and 1pm....it's a pain in the butt as you HAVE to do your homework to ride these rides, people get screwed by the mouse enough just getting a ticket. If I buy a ticket to the park I should be able to at least try to go on the ride without having to she'll out more money. The lottery should only be for peak visitor days if at all. Also those with park hopper should be eligible for the chance to go on GOTG and Tron regardless of which park they hop to first. I left feeling annoyed and they say try to talk to a Disney cast experience host or whatever they are called and they were like too bad. Sorry about that, happy birthday...No we don't want another button, we paid over 1000 for a small family to come to the park and ride all the rides, especially for older kids who don't want to ride Dumbo the way they did the lottery and LL just made me mad. So much for happiest place on earth. At least we were able to use our tickets this time last time we all were sick from the whole mouse pox spread.

I think the virtual queue option is a good idea to avoid longgggg queue times . From the U K and a DVc member I would NEVER ever pay for a lightening lane nor genie + !!! We pay enough to go to wdw , the food is so expensive now . We have to pay to get to wdw from the airport , the free fastpass is gone . We couldn’t afford it . We are all teachers so can’t help feeling WDW is just pricing us out . I was selling my two DVc accounts after our 2023 holiday , my daughter has sold hers , her annual trip will now be every 3 years. We are all coming this year using my points if the Disney magic has gone as it had last year . It could be our last trip No I would not buy the lightening lane for the 6 of us !!!
