Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes are Disney’s skip-the-standby-line services. Pricing fluctuates based on expected crowd levels, and we have great news for guests who want to purchase them today!
Genie+
Along with a huge list of recent price increases, Disney also moved to variable pricing for Genie+. Since its launch in 2021, Disney World’s Genie+ cost $15 and Disneyland’s version cost $20 per person (plus any applicable tax). However, guests have since seen pricing vary at Disney World and Disneyland.
With date-based theme park ticket pricing and Disney’s announcement that Guests could no longer purchase Genie+ in advance, variable pricing came as little surprise. Disney saw a way to increase revenue during peak crowd levels on this service and capitalized on it.
Genie+ recently reached an all-time high of $29 per person! While it’s not that much for a solo guest, the cost can quickly rise for families visiting on multiple day. If you plan to use this service, it’s important to budget these costs into your vacation.
Genie+ and Crowds
As mentioned above, variable pricing allows Disney to capitalize on higher crowds by increasing the price of the service. This means busier days will usually yield higher Genie+ and ILLS pricing. On the other side of the coin, lower crowds will usually yield lower pricing for Genie+ and ILLS.
Since the launch of variable pricing last month, we have seen pricing fluctuate from $15 to almost $30. We can somewhat “predict” the cost by relying on historical data to determine busier times. For example, the week of Thanksgiving and the week of Christmas/New Year are typically very busy weeks.
January and February (minus holidays and race weekends) are usually not busy at all, so we can guess that pricing will be much more conservative during those times.
Today’s Pricing
If you have been at Disney World this week, you no doubt have witnessed the busy crowds first hand! Wait times have been very high this week and so has Genie+ and ILLS pricing.
Now that most of the holiday crowds are heading home, today’s pricing reflects that. The cost of Genie+ today, November 27, is “only” $17. That is about as close to the introductory price of $15. Hopefully this trend continues for a few weeks until Christmas break crowds roll in.
Individual Lightning Lanes have always fluctuated in pricing. Here is pricing for those:
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: $10/person
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind: $14/person
- Rise of the Resistance: $17/person
- Avatar Flight of Passage” $13/person
The cost of Genie+ today, November 27, is “only” $17.
Are you at Disney World today? Will you purchase Genie+ for $17? What about the Individual Lightning Lanes? Let us know in the comments below and on Facebook.

Actually went last Friday, day after Thanksgiving, as a family of 8 (6 adults and 2 paying children). Pd $29 Genie + per person and lightning lane to ride mine train. A total extra cost of $375 for just one day! Ridiculous! But we got to ride EVERYTHING with no more than 10 minute wait for anything. Just not possible on busy days without it. Our last time for quite a while.

Are you listening Bob Iger?? Your predecessor had outright disdain for the AP holders and the diehard fans. You know, the people who keep coming back. They should not be charged for the "privilege" of getting on rides a little sooner than those on "standby". Loyalty should be rewarded. If this company does not change direction soon and continues to be used by the suits as a cash cow, Disney will no longer exist as the place of magic envisioned by its founder. For God's sake, will someone over there develop a functioning brain stem and fix this mess before it's too late?

Been going to WDW since 1980. Annual pass holders. Don’t mind the price of passes, but the Disney genie and other charges for going on rides is a slap in the face for guests. 75 years old, and Days are shorter for us. You have taken the spontaneous experience for us. Reservations make it tough, when you don’t know how you will feel in the morning. This is probably our last January and February trip for us. We just can’t afford all the Extra fees.

I gave up my annual pass as well this year. I have been a passholder for 9-20 years. Way to much was being taken away, the pricing got out of hand, and it was hard to get a reservation most days you wanted. Bring back fast pass!!!

My family and I have gone to Disney many many times through out the years . Since covid it has gone downhill this year will be our last unless drastically change price wise. One shouldn’t have to worry about paying to ride rides and bring back dinning plan abs make it a value like years ago. Also bring back magical express Disney is a billion dollar company make it so the average blue collar family can afford it. Let’s see what Igor can do but for now I’ll spend my 10 grand else where because that’s what it was for a 9 day stay including everything to much.
