New Lead Gorilla Makes His Debut At Disney World

Gorillas At Animal Kingdom Park

The animals at Disney's Animal Kingdom inspire hope and joy for Walt Disney World Guests as well as Cast Members and Animal Care Experts. We love the new life that springs up as part of Disney Conservation.

But if Disney has taught us anything, it is that life is a circle, and what begins must also end. 

Last year, we sadly shared that Gino passed away. Gino, was the troop leader of Disney's Western lowland gorillas, he was 44 when he passed away. You can read the full story HERE.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Welcomes Bakari

Last month, we shared that a new male gorilla, Bakari, had arrived at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Bakari is 21 years old and came from the Saint Louis Zoo. 

Bakari will take the role as the head of the family, also called the silverback.

When he first arrived at Disney's Animal Kingdom, the gorilla exhibit was closed for viewing, while Bakari got familiar with new home and troop.

Bakari Makes His Debut

Bakari, a silverback gorilla, is now out leading the troop in the gorilla exhibit on the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail.

Guests can try and catch view of Bakari on the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail.

We can't wait to see him on our next visit to Disney's Animal Kingdom!
