There is so much exciting news flying out of d23 it’s hard to keep up! We were very excited to hear the Disney Imagineers share what a possible Encanto attraction might look like when they shared the possibilities for expanding Magic Kingdom! There were plenty of exciting announcements at 2022’s D23! The day started with the news that we would see Happily Ever After return to Magic Kingdom, only to be followed shortly with some clarification that was more than disappointing on the beloved show.
Among other announcements, we were thrilled to learn when we will be able to ride Tron, the possibilities for a new re-theme in the Dinoland area of Animal Kingdom, and even about new and beloved character meets coming to EPCOT!
The news didn’t stop there though! Imagineers got us really excited when they started sharing some possible plans for expanding the area behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom!
Expanding Magic Kingdom
Disney Imagineers are always thinking of ways to bring our favorite stories to life, and they’ve really outdone themselves this time!
At D23, we learned that there are ideas in the works for expanding the area behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Not only might we take a trip to Mexico with a Coco themed attraction, but there was even talks about a Villains area too!
Of course, they didn’t stop there. They even teased us by beginning to talk about Bruno! That’s right, an Encanto attraction might be heading for Magic Kingdom!
Step into Casita
Imagineers took us on a journey through Casita and painted a picture of a magical possibility for Magic Kingdom.
“What if you could walk into the Madrigals casita, meet the family, and what if Mirabel was your guide introducing you to all of the wonder within those walls?”
Imagineering went on to list out several areas we might see in this attraction, including Bruno’s tower and Antonio’s room! They even mentioned it may be possible to step up to a door and discover your own magical power!
Josh D’Amaro, Chairmen of Disney Parks, then reminded us that these ideas could be on the horizon, so don’t get too excited yet, but the possibilities seem incredible!
You may recall several months ago when Lin Manuel Miranda shared there was an Encanto attraction in the works. It appears that the Imagineers really are “on it” like he said!
