Many Disney Guests enjoy creating touring plans months before their Disney trip. Modifying your touring plan on Character Locator is a big joy as Guests countdown to their Disney vacation.

Since the reopening of the Disney Parks, the Walt Disney World website lists a disclaimer, “Certain parks, hotels, restaurants, and other offerings may be modified or unavailable, limited in capacity and subject to limited availability or closure, and park admission and offerings are not guaranteed.”

In March, we saw many showtimes canceled for Animal Kingdom’s popular show, Celebration of the Festival of the Lion King. At the beginning of May, Disney removed showtimes for their new show, Kite Tails. For more than a week, no showtimes were listed, and then on June 7th, showtimes once again returned for this show.

Now, these canceled showtimes may be the trend for Animal Kingdom’s newest show.

The newly reimagined show, Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond, picks up after Finding Dory and is told through the eyes of the “Tank Gang.” Originally this live show was to debut on June 13th. Guests were delighted, over the weekend, to enjoy a soft opening of this show both Saturday, June 11th, and Sunday, June 12th.

Disney announced daily showtimes for this show before the June 13th opening. Unfortunately, the daily showtimes are not being offered as originally planned. Over the weekend and on the original debut date, June 13th, guests could enjoy this show at all 6 posted showtimes.

Less than one week in, we see a reduction in showtimes becoming the trend. On June 14, June 15th, and now again today, the first showtime at 10:30 am and the last showtime at 4:30 pm are canceled. When looking ahead, all showtimes are listed on the Walt Disney World website. This has been the trend the last couple of days that all showtimes are listed the day before and then a modified schedule is listed the day of.

On June 14, June 15th, and now again today, the first showtime at 10:30 am and the last showtime at 4:30 pm are canceled.

At this time, Disney has not shared a reason for reduced showtimes. We are curious to see if this may be the trend for only 4 showtimes of this new show in the future. Continue to check the My Disney Experience app for updated showtimes throughout your vacation.

Covid. Hello?!

Clearly this show (and AK in general) are not drawing the crowds Disney was anticipating. Reducing the number of showtimes is one way for Disney to reduce its costs. We are not interested in seeing this show if Disney does not offer the 4:30 time slot. We never arrive in the parks until later in the day, particularly during the heat of summer.
