Shake Ups within the Company
It seems like Disney has received a lot of negativity lately for various reasons and whether or not it has anything to do with the negativity, there have been a few shake ups within the company.
They lost their senior executive Vice President and chief corporate affairs officer, Geoff Morrell in late April. Just today, it was reported that Disney fired Peter Rice, Chairman of Disney General Entertainment Content.
Much of his role related to creating original entertainment and news programming for The Walt Disney Company’s streaming platforms, including Disney+, Hulu and Star, and its cable and broadcast networks.
A new Chairman
Today and not long after it was reported of the departure of Peter Rice, The Walt Disney Company has announced a new Chairman of Disney General Entertainment Content.
The company announced that Dana Walden will be taking over for Peter Rice. Her appointment is effective immediately and she will report directly to Bob Chapek.
Here is what Disney’s CEO, Bob Chapek had to say about her appointment:
“Dana is a dynamic, collaborative leader and cultural force who in just three years has transformed our television business into a content powerhouse that consistently delivers the entertainment audiences crave,“ Chapek said. “Her well-earned reputation for championing creative talent and developing programming that truly captures the cultural zeitgeist has resulted in hit after hit, from ABC’s Abbott Elementary and Onyx Collective’s Academy Award®-winning Summer of Soul, to Hulu Originals like Only Murders in the Building, Dopesick, The Dropout, and The Kardashians. She and Peter have worked closely together for years to create the best programming in the industry, and I can think of no one better than Dana to lead Disney General Entertainment to even greater heights.”

Dana Walden
Dana Walden released a statement about her new role for The Walt Disney Company. Here is what she said:
“It is an incredible honor to be asked to lead this amazingly talented team—they are truly the absolute best in every respect—and I am grateful to Bob for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Walden said. “Disney General Entertainment’s culture of creative excellence and originality has made us home to many of the most talented creators in the business. I am humbled to lead this team, and I am confident that together, we will continue to build on the foundation of culture-defining entertainment we have achieved so far.”
Dana Walden has been with the company since 2019 since Disney acquired the rights to 21st Century Fox.

Disney needs to clean house from top to bottom. As long as Disney continues to promote from within, it's just going to be more of the same bad moves by Disney.

Not so sure about this....I don't like all if Disney's "wokeness" so not sure what "culture-defining entertainment " is, but if they are going in the direction they have been it's not good!
