Character Hugs Return
Since March 2020, the Disney Parks have looked quite different. As the Parks experienced an extended closure, many Guests wondered how the Disney magic would return. With many health and safety measures in place, the Parks did in fact reopen. Over the past several months, the Disney Parks has gradually brought back our favorite Disney experiences.
When Disney recently announced the return of character meets, we learned of a few modifications. First, these would not be up close meets where you can get an autograph and hug them. Instead of calling this a character meet, Disney has changed all descriptions on the website to “sighting.”
We are very excited to share that Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and Aulani are now have non-distanced character meets! Get those autograph books ready! Guests can now meet their favorite Disney pals without any kind of mask or social distancing requirements beginning today, April 18, 2022!
Guests can now hug character in the Parks and also during character meals as well.
First to Receive Mickey Hugs
During the Character “Sightings” the wait times for character were quite low, but as you guessed it wait times were quite high today with the return of character hugs.
A select group of Mouseketeers were able to be among the first to enjoy a hug from Mickey Mouse. Walt Disney World ambassadors shared this “Happy Tears” moment on their Instagram Page. Before the Magic Kingdom opened to Guests this morning, a group of Cast Members were among the first have the opportunity to give Mickey Mouse a great big hug.
