Breaking: Magic Kingdom Resorts and Transportation Lose Power

Recent Outages

Unfortunately, Disney encounters technological issues. These range from a glitchy reservation system to a major power surge that closes attractions. In addition, theme park attractions lose power at times. Recently, power outages in Animal Kingdom caused delays.

In the summer, the monorail lost power and left Guests stranded inside in 95 degree weather. The orange line was affected leaving the Contemporary Resort and headed to the Magic Kingdom. Read about that HERE.

Also, multiple fire alarms went off a few months ago at the Polynesian and Hollywood Studios. In early September, power reportedly was cut at the Grand Floridian ResortPolynesian Resort, and possibly the Contemporary Resort. As you can see, power outages are nothing new at Disney World. It happened again tonight!

Latest Resort Power Loss

Tonight, guests report that the power is out resort wide at Grand Floridian and other Magic Kingdom resorts! In addition, one of our KtP writers, Heather, is at Disney World now. She spoke with a Disney World Cast Member who confirmed the power loss. He stated that the power went out for about 45 minutes. In addition, restaurants at these resorts lost power making the registers unavailable.

The power stayed out for about 45 minutes.

Transportation Affected Tonight

Not only did the Magic Kingdom Resorts lost power, but also the monorails and boats are down due to power outage. As a result, theme park and resort guests were left scrambling for buses as their only means of transportation. With buses being the only transportation option, several guests shared tweets stating the buses were packed like sardines!
