Yesterday, Disney gave us what we all wanted and shared information about the new system replacing FastPass+ and MaxPass. Disney Genie is a free service that will help build itineraries for the parks and streamline all of the planning we do for a trip to Disney.

Genie+ is the paid system that allows us to select a return time for many attractions for a flat fee of $20/person/day at Disneyland and $15/person/day at Disney World.

Individual Lightning Lane Selections allow you to choose up to TWO headliner attractions per day for additional fees. This price varies based on the date and attraction.

We are working on a big giant guide that will help you understand all this more in depth so be sure to stay tuned!

No one seems to be looking at this problem. The average park visit is 9+ hours in a day. Most cell phones batteries with moderate to heavy use will be quickly depleted in less than that time. They are rolling out an app and program which is entirely dependent upon the use of a smart phone, yet They have no public charging stations? So on top of my additional ticket costs, now I have to purchase heavy duty back up battery packs for all 6 of my family members? And as many others have said, the signal in the park and app performance during high crowds is abysmal. How can a company who promotes their guest experience as ‘magical’ place a poor tax on the families who struggle and save for years to give their children a once in a lifetime vacation? When Universal rolled out their version of this caste system, we were shocked and said many times how that personified the difference between Universal and Disney’s Mission Statement. Sadly, Disney has fallen to that level. What was once a place where everyone could have an equally magical experience upon passing through the park gates will now turn into everyone looking down at their phones frantically trying to get the best rides and enjoying nothing.

Thank you! So, it's my understanding that Genie+ would be $15/day, and then Lightning Lane purchase for selected rides/attractions is an additional cost that will vary by attraction and by day. But you can purchase Lightning Lane for Rise and Remy; I don't see the advantage of purchasing Lightning Lane for RoR or Remy if you already have a return time in the virtual queue. Am I missing something?

The additional purchase is not necessary if you already have a boarding group in the virtual queue. It's an option for those who don't get a boarding group.

I don't understand how to use the Lightning Lane and virtual queue together. I get that you must still register in the virtual queue. How then is the Lightning Lane advantageous? Can I add Genie+ at any time during the day? Same with Lightning Lane purchase.

The term Lightning Lane only refers to the line that you walk through in the parks. It's the old FP queue. You won't necessarily be using the LL queue for Rise or Remy (which are the only two attractions using a virtual queue). You will actually still use the standby line unless you are using the DAS service. Then you can use the shortened LL queue. Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane selections can be added the day of so yes you can purchase them anytime during the day.
