D23 2026 is here. The annual Disney fan event is always ripe with Disney news and announcements!

The Disney announcements have been flooding in. Disney has already announced a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Float and given us a look at the new Carousel of Progress updates.

Moreover, we have stories about a new Star Wars attraction for Galaxy's Edge. And, as expected, we have some Animal Kingdom updates too, including cool Audio-Animatronics for Encanto. And, of course, there is also news about Cars!

Disney said goodbye to Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer's Island to make way for Cars! The new Cars-themed area, which will be known as Piston Peak National Park, is already well underway.

This year, as part of the D23 festivities, Disney shared a special look at the new land with fans. In fact, the company shared an expansive, detailed model of the entire land!

Many Disney fans have been skeptical as to how Cars would tie in with Frontierland. However, if the final product is executed as well as the model, it will blend in in a way that makes sense, at least from a visual standpoint.

In fact, it looks as if the land has the potential to be positively stunning with its mountains, waterfalls, geysers, and buttes! There's even a river, a memento of its predecessor.

What Exactly Will Be in Piston Peak

Piston Peak will feature two new Cars-themed attractions. The headliner will be an exciting ride that races through the frontier. You can read more about it HERE.

There will also be a flat ride that looks like it will have some sort of spinning element to it. The ride vehicles look like Cars characters, so plenty of little ones will doubtless be drawn to it regardless of what it actually does.
