Magic Kingdom Closing Popular Walkway Indefinitely
Maneuvering through the Magic Kingdom is going to be a lot more complicated. See which walkway is soon closing to Guests.
Magic Kingdom Expansion

There are many changes currently taking place throughout Walt Disney World. At the Magic Kingdom, a large expansion is taking place along the former Rivers of America and beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad for Villains Land.
During this expansion, the Walt Disney World Railroad Frontierland station is also blocked by construction walls. Thankfully, you can still enjoy a ride along the Walt Disney World Railroad, but with a "shuttle mode" change with our favorite alien, Stitch.
Now, even more changes will affect Frontierland due to this expansion.
Magic Kingdom Closures

Earlier, we shared that both Westward Ho and Big Al's would permanently close. Westward Ho offered breakfast options, light lunch and dinner options, Joffrey's coffee, and frozen beverages. It officially served its final Guests on June 21, 2026.
Signage is in place, redirecting hungry Guests to the Frontierland popcorn wagon for food and beverage options. Big Al's permanently closed on May 11, 2026.
This closure was caused by the current construction walls, which will soon move forward into Frontierland's riverwalk area.
Frontierland Boardwalk Closure

Now the Frontierland Boardwalk has been removed from both the digital map on the My Disney Experience app and physical Magic Kingdom park maps. The actual boardwalk is still open to Guests for now.
Magic Kingdom will soon close Frontierland Boardwalk.
With the most recent closures of Westward Ho and Big Al's, the kiosks were first removed from the park maps before actually closing to Guests. This is the initial warning sign that the Frontierland Boardwalk will be closed to Guests.

This will undoubtedly bring more dreaded construction walls. With the new path of construction walls, Disney has plans to form a new temporary pedestrian pathway along the promenade.
Disney promises this new pathway will help with pedestrian traffic flow and parade viewing. Continue to follow along as we share updates on this big Magic Kingdom expansion.
