New Closure Impacts Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland

Walt Disney World is in the dreaded "Refurbishment Season," and a new attraction has been added to the list of closures.

As Walt Disney once said, "We keep moving forward," and that is very true at Walt Disney World. Magic Kingdom is undergoing the "largest expansion" ever for this park with the addition of Villains Land and Piston Peak National Park.

At Disney's Hollywood Studios the former Animation Courtyard is being transformed into "Magic of Disney Animation". This space will have a phased opening this summer and work is well underway for Monstropolis.

Of course, one of the biggest changes will take place at Disney's Animal Kingdom. DinoLand is now officially extinct. On top of this closure comes a brand new multi-month closure at Animal Kingdom.

Journey of the Little Mermaid Closing

The problem is that these big expansion projects are also met with regular refurbishments. While we understand the need for routine refurbishments, this is more difficult with so many construction projects.

Located in Fantasyland, Under the Sea- Journey of the Little Mermaid will not offer operating hours on February 11, 2026.

According to the Walt Disney World calendar, Under the Sea- Journey of the Little Mermaid will reopen on February 12, 2026.

Fantasyland Closures

It is unclear why such a short refurbishment is planned, but we are thankful that it will be brief. As a reminder, Fantasyland has another big refurbishment project underway at Pete's Silly Sideshow.
