Two Big Steps Forward on Disney's Hollywood Studios Expansion

We now have first views of the progress taking place at Disney's Hollywood Studios. What do you think about these changes?

Hollywood Studios Closures

Disney's Hollywood Studios is a bit of a mess right now. Muppet Courtyard is a demolition zone as Disney prepares to bring Monstropolis to this space.

Construction walls continue to expand over the former Animation Courtyard. Guests can still access Walt Disney Presents and "The Little Mermaid-A Musical Adventure".

Construction impacted Toy Story Land as land is cleared for a new snack stand. Guests can see current Imagineering plans for many of these new projects at this new display.

Big Step Forward for Monstropolis

The Monsters, Inc.-themed area is going to bring another thrill ride to Hollywood Studios, a rollercoaster inspired by the famous doors scene.

Not only that, but visitors can expect an entire themed area to accompany the ride, including shops and restaurants.

The Muppet Courtyard officially closed in June. Since that closure, many buildings have been removed. We now see "Monster Size" progress at Monstropolis as work begins for pouring concrete.

Disney's Animation Courtyard Cleared

Animation Courtyard permanently closed on September 25, 2025. This made way for "The Magic of Disney Animation". Disney shares that this will "be a place where kids and kids at heart can laugh, draw, dream, and explore animated new experiences."

Disney's Hollywood Studios has 2 BIG projects with the building of Monstropolis and the reimagining of "The Magic of Disney Animation."

With an opening timeline of 2026, we now see the work of land being cleared. As a reminder, the large Disney's Hollywood Studios archway has also been removed from this area.
