What once served as a convenient way to enter the parks, make payments, check in for attractions using Lightning Lane services, and link photos taken by PhotoPass Cast Members, MagicBands have come a long way.

When MagicBand+ first debuted the big interactions included the 50th Anniversary golden statues and go on a quest with the Batuu Bounty Hunters experience at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Later, Walt Disney World guests experienced MagicBand interactions while enjoying Festival of the Lion King, Frozen Sing-Along Celebration, Beauty and the Beast-Live on Stage, and Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular.

For several years, Walt Disney World Resort guests could receive a complimentary MagicBand. This ended in January 2021; however, Walt Disney World Resort guests could enjoy a discounted price on select MagicBands.

Just recently, Walt Disney World also quietly removed the resort discount for pre-arrival MagicBand+ selections.

Now Disney is trying to entice guests to see the value in the MagicBand+ with fun interactions promised for this year's Christmas Tree Stroll located at Disney Springs.

  1. We quit using MagicBands when Disney moved to the MagicBand+. We are not purchasing another device that needs to be charged and sits in a drawer most of the time.

  2. Magic band + is not a PLUS like Disney originally sold it as. We live next to WDW and purchased 4 for me and husband then purchased 8 for family including 6 grandchildren. The GE experience is less than ridiculous and my 5 young grandsons much preferred the mickey sorcerer game and collecting cards and party cards when they visiting from Texas twice a year. My husband finished collecting all cards and party cards and purchased the card holder books for them before Execs pulled the plug on the game. Disney execs failed again.

    1. We really miss the Sorcerers of the Kingdom game as well. I'm glad you all were able to collect so many cards before it ended. It is definitely a missed experience
