Disney World Quietly Removes This Resort Perk

We were pretty shocked when we discovered that Disney quietly removed this magical perk without warning. What do you think about so many missing perks?

Over the past several months, the Walt Disney Company has been under attack by many who feel that the Disney parks are too expensive for the average family. Walt Disney first envisioned Disneyland as a place where parents and children could enjoy attractions in a magical land together.

The Walt Disney Company responded, stating that they felt the lifelong memories that guests create were also worth the current price. This led many to believe that the Walt Disney Company was truly out of touch with its target audience.

Many feel that a Walt Disney World vacation is too expensive for the average family, particularly with many free perks removed.

This morning, Disney fans awoke to discover huge price increases for both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, including price increases for park tickets, parking, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, and dining.

The problem with so many price increases is that this also comes with the removal of a fun guest resort perk.

For several years, Walt Disney World Resort guests could receive a complimentary MagicBand. This ended in January 2021; however, Walt Disney World Resort guests could enjoy a discounted price on select MagicBands.

Without any warning, the option to enjoy a discounted price for Walt Disney World Resort guests is now missing. Previously, guests could enjoy up to $15 off select styles of MagicBand+ designs.

This perk has now changed to state the following: "Resort guests and Annual Passholders may purchase a MagicBand+ through My Disney Experience prior to arrival and enjoy: free shipping, free personalization, a custom shipping box, and the added convenience of having your MagicBand+ automatically linked to your MyDisney account."

  1. What?! OK, I don't think I'll be getting any more magic bands. I had been considering not getting them, anyway, due to the cost. This just makes my decision that much more easy.

  2. I have had enough of Disney's price gouging. The Magic is just about all gone now. It breaks my heart, because younger families will never be able to experience what we experienced at WDW when our kids were young. Disney under Michael Eisner did not have to do this because Disney made good, entertaining, family oriented movies back then that were blockbusters, one right after another, and Disney did not have to support the whole company on the backs of the parks. Going Woke has been a complete blunder for Disney, no doubt about that.

    1. Disney Parks in the 90s was a completely different vibe. The price increases and missing perks are too much for most families.

    2. @Donna Farmer,

Even the 2000’s and early to mid 2010’s ….so much has changed since then, with very little to the better.
