Universal Quickly Settles Stardust Racers Lawsuit Outside of Court
Universal Orlando Resort's new Epic Universe is the subject of a lawsuit based on an incident aboard its Stardust Racers Rollercoaster. Here are the results of that lawsuit.
Epic Universe Rollercoaster Lawsuit

Universal Orlando Resort opened a beautiful new theme park this year. Epic Universe opened to the public in May of 2025.
The park is well themed, beautiful, and full of adventure, making it an attractive option for theme park fans!. However, anytime anyone visits a theme park, they must consider their own safety.
Universal has many health/safety guidelines visible and in place to help guests understand whether each attraction and show is something they can safely experience. Even so, sometimes unfortunate accidents still occur and lead to lawsuits.
Stardust Racers Lawsuit

One such lawsuit was filed recently after an incident aboard Stardust Racers, the park's high-thrill coaster that sends two trains full of riders racing across mirrored tracks simultaneously. Stardust Racers is an intense experience.
One guest was invited to visit the park on a preview day. She accepted the invitation and decided to take a race through the cosmos.
According to the court record, the guest claimed she sustained permanent injuries on the rollercoaster after she was shaken and slammed against the headrest. Subsequently, she filed a complaint against Universal and a demand for a jury trial in the Circuit Court of the 9th Judicial Circuit in and for Orange County, Florida.
She made a claim of negligence against Universal. The claim alleged that Universal was negligent in the duty "to maintain, operate, and control Defendant's Stardust Racers roller coaster in a reasonably safe condition for use by the public. The claim also alleged that the warnings in place for the coaster were inadequate.
Stardust Racers Settlement

Ultimately, the case was settled and voluntarily dismissed before trial. The plaintiff was seeking damages of $50,001.
Universal settled the $50,001 case outside of court.
What About the Stardust Racers Tragedy

To prevent the spread of misinformation, it is important to note that this case is not related to the tragic death of Kevin Rodriguez Zavalam, who was found unresponsive in a Stardust Racers ride vehicle after experiencing the attraction and was later pronounced dead in the hospital. While the family has reportedly retained an attorney and has been understandably vocal about their expectations from Universal, a related lawsuit has not been filed at the time of this article's publication. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the family and with the Universal Team Members impacted by the tragedy. This article will not offer speculation on this tragic matter.
Universal is reportedly cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Stardust Racers, meanwhile, remains closed.

The ride is safe. An invalid should not have been lifted out of his wheelchair by his family and strapped into a ride clearly not meant for people like him. They chose to disregard every safety warnings.
