Tragedy at Epic Universe

Last night, Wednesday, September 17, 2025, an Epic Universe Visitor passed away after a ride on Stardust Racers, the park's biggest thrill ride. According to Universal, the guest rode Stardust Racers and was found unresponsive after the ride ended.
The guest was taken to the hospital for care and sadly passed away.
When the initial incident was reported, it was unclear if any safety issues may have contributed. An investigation is underway. Stardust Racers remained closed today.
Universal's Statement

Universal is cooperating with the Orange County Sheriff's Office following the tragic event involving a guest at Epic Universe on Wednesday night. The guest became unresponsive after riding Stardust Racers and was transported to the hospital, where the guest later died.
We are devastated by this event and extend our sincerest sympathies to the guest's loved ones. We are fully committed to cooperating with this ongoing investigation. The attraction remains closed.

This evening, an update from the Orange County Medical Examiner's Office was shared. According to the Orange County Medical Examiner's Office, the Guest, Kevin Rodriguez Zavala, died of "multiple blunt impact injuries." Zavala was 32 years old.
