There are many things to consider when planning your trip to Walt Disney World. From rainstorms to hurricane planning, Florida weather can put a few wrinkles even in the best-laid travel plans.

Many guests are well aware that the summers at Walt Disney World can be hot. This may be why summer is the cheapest time to visit Walt Disney World, but now an extreme heat wave is affecting the park for several weeks in a row.

With dangerous heat impacting Florida with temperatures between 95° and 100°, this feels like 112° to 115°. Walt Disney World is making several changes to keep guests and Cast Members safe.

Walt Disney World has made a few changes to help keep Cast Members and our favorite Disney characters safe during this summer heat. Many Disney PhotoPass photographers now stand under umbrellas to help stay protected from the sun.

Some "furrier" characters are now relocated to escape the summer sun. For example, Chewbaca once roamed throughout Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, but now he is located near the Millennium Falcon.

The Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade also made a few changes yesterday, August 4th. This cavalcade is currently offered at 10:30 am and 11:45 am. For the 11:45 am showtime, the "face characters" such as Disney princesses walked the parade route.

Typically, the costumed characters mainly walk the parade route, but yesterday, these characters rode the floats while the "face characters" walked. We are thankful that Disney makes small changes to keep everyone safe while still delivering great entertainment.
