Disney made a huge announcement during its Earnings Report for the 2nd quarter of 2025. And it was one that no one saw coming!

Disney has already been sharing many expansion projects for its theme parks, including lands inspired by Monsters Inc., Cars, and The Lion King! But today Disney announced plans to build a brand new Disney theme park!

The Walt Disney Company and Miral, Abu Dhabi’s leading creator of immersive destinations and experiences, will build a new Disney Theme Park Resort in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. You can read every detail of the original announcement and a video that includes concept art right HERE.

This theme park promises to be a unique experience unlike any other across the globe. It will mix our favorite Disney stories, characters, and attractions with Abu Dhabi’s culture and architecture.

The park is slated to be built on Yas Island. So, it will be a waterfront dream of a destination.

Historically, Disney’s major projects do not move quickly. TRON is an example of a project that took many years to complete in the Magic Kingdom. In fact, legend has it that the construction took so long that children who were born the year TRON was announced for Walt Disney World were tall enough to ride the coaster once it finally opened.

The new DIsney theme park will take more than 5 years to complete.

Earlier today, during a CNBC interview, Bob Iger disclosed that the theme park will take longer than five years to build. Needless to say, you will have plenty of time to save up for a flight to Abu Dhabi’s.

We do not anticipate that there will be an official opening date announced anytime soon. However, we will doubtless get lots of updates for this exciting new international park over the next five years during events such as D23.
