The Early Entry Change You Need to Know About for 2026

Does Disney Really Need a Seventh Theme Park Destination?

Many wondered if Disney would feel pressure in Florida with the opening of Epic Universe, and instead of offering a new Theme Park to Florida, they just announced they will add a 7th Theme Park destination.

Many feel that Epic Universe will make Universal Studios the premier vacation destination in Central Florida. Still, the Walt Disney Company sees this as a benefit for Walt Disney World. Read more on this HERE.

Earlier today, on an Earnings Report for the 2nd quarter of the 2025 fiscal year, the Walt Disney Company shared high earnings at domestic Disney Theme Parks with high attendance.

In addition, Disney shares, "As we turbocharge long-term growth with a number of strategic investments, we currently have more expansion projects underway around the world than at any other time in our history."

Today, we were expecting big announcements, but none of us expected a 7th Theme Park destination. The Walt Disney Company and Miral, Abu Dhabi's leading creator of immersive destinations and experiences, will work to create a new Disney Theme Park Resort in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

This new Theme Park experience will be quite different than the current Disney destinations. It will mix our favorite Disney stories, characters, and attractions with Abu Dhabi's culture and architecture. Disney's Josh D'Amaro shares that the waterfront location of Yas Island, "will allow us to tell our stories in completely new ways."

The new resort will be fully developed and built by Miral. Disney and its legendary Imagineers will lead creative design and operational oversight to provide a world-class experience. This resort will be operated by Miral and Abu Dhabi in collaboration with American and European brands.

How will this resort be different?

Disney's Josh D'Amaro shares, "Our resort in Abu Dhabi will be the most advanced and interactive destination in our portfolio."

Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi, Group CEO, Miral. "Together, we are creating a place of boundless innovation, where the vision of our leadership continues to inspire the world."

This may be great news for the Walt Disney Company, but as a Walt Disney World Annual Passholder (Donna), it seems that some of these resources and innovations could be greatly used at the domestic Theme Parks currently greeting guests.
