Two Epic Universe Attractions are Already Set for Multi-Day Closures

Epic Universe Multi-Day Closures

Epic Universe is not even officially open yet, so some readers may be wondering how multi-day closures can already be in place. While the park’s official opening date is not until May 22, 2025, Universal has been selling previews so that guests can visit during the park’s technical rehearsal.

A theme park typically does not guarantee all attractions will be up and running during any one date range. This is especially true during technical rehearsals.

Unfortunately, Universal has announced two attraction closures for Epic Universe that impact both the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and the How to Train Your Dragon-themed lands. These might be disappointing for guests who have Epic Universe preview tickets. Hopefully, the announcement will help visitors manage expectations.

Harry Potter Ride Closure

The first closure announcement is for the Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry attraction. This is no doubt disappointing for fans of the franchise who have preview tickets.

Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry will be closed from May 10 to May 16, 2025. However, the ride’s queue will be open for self-guided tours during this time.

Of course, the Virtual Queue system has already made it difficult to secure a chance to ride the attraction. It is so tough that it has led to potential VQ scalping.

So, perhaps a bright side is that the closure will save some visitors a little disappointment and prevent time wasted on their phones trying to secure a spot with no success. Hopefully, adjustments made during the closure will illuminate the need for a VQ altogether. (We can dream, right?)

How to Train Your Dragon Closure

The second closure impacts How to Train Your Dragon-Isle of Berk. Viking Training Camp will be closed from May 13 to May 16, 2025.

This announcement will likely be most disappointing for travel parties with children who do not meet the height requirements for most rides. It might also disappoint hard-core How to Train Your Dragon fans who hoped to explore the whole land.

Viking Training Camp and Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry will be temporary closed during upcoming Epic Universe previews.

Hopefully, both attractions will be all set for the official grand opening of Epic Universe.
