There are only a few weeks left to enjoy Muppet Vision 3D, but now we know Disney’s plan to help preserve this film for Disney fans.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has undergone many changes over the years. Muppet Vision 3D was the final major project that Jim Henson directed before he passed in 1990. It originally opened on May 16, 1991.

This film is special to many Muppet and Disney fans who have enjoyed it for several decades and as a final masterpiece created by Jim Henson. When Disney originally shared that the Muppet Courtyard would closeto make room for a Monsters Inc.-themed land, this news was somewhat bittersweet.

Disney shared, “As we move forward with these changes, we are having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future.”

Disney has shared that a special filming event will take place this month to archive Muppet Vision 3D. Cast Members can register to be a part of the audience for this special filming.

Looking at the current Muppet Vision 3D operating hours, the attraction closes every day at 8:00 pm except May 9th and 10th. The attraction will close at 9:00 pm on these days.

We are unsure if this could be an indication of a possible filming schedule. As we have shared before, Disney can change operating hours for attractions as needed. Be sure to double-check the My Disney Experience app to stay up to date on operating hours.

Disney did not specify how they would preserve Muppet Vision 3D, but this special filming may indicate that this film could one day be shared at the Disney Parks or even on Disney+.

Unfortunately, these are the final days for Muppet Vision 3D with the final day of operation being on June 7th. We are thankful that plans are underway to help preserve this film.
