One benefit of staying at a Walt Disney World Resort is complimentary transportation. Check out the current transportation closure that may alter your travel plans.
Disney Transportation
There are many differing opinions on transportation options, largely depending upon which Disney Resort you are staying at and also which Park you will be visiting. The Walt Disney World Resort is HUGE and many questions revolve around which is the quickest mode of transportation to arrive at each Park.
From the Skyliner, buses, ferry boats, and of course the monorail there are many options for Resort Guests to arrive at each of the Walt Disney World Parks. Choosing the fastest and most efficient form of transportation is key to a peaceful visit. You can see a full review of each form of Disney transportation HERE.
At times delays and transportation closures cannot be avoided and guests need to be aware of these changes.
Current Closure
Disney’s Grand Floridian has been under construction for quite some time. This massive refurbishment has brought new life to resort rooms, the lobby, and throughout the resort.
Guests have various transportation options at the Grand Floridian including water transportation, buses, walkways, and the monorail. Today, the boat dock offering transportation to the Magic Kingdom is closed for a brief refurbishment.
Although this is disappointing, the refurbishment will be brief. Boat transportation expects to reopen this Saturday, September 14, 2024 and boat transportation will return soon after.
How does this affect guests?
Cast Members encourage Guests to use other available Disney transportation during this brief closure. The monorail offers the easiest access to the Magic Kingdom, while the walking path is available as well.
Currently, boat transportation is closed from the Grand Floridian to the Magic Kingdom.
We are hopeful the boat dock refurbishment will be completed by this Saturday. Many guests choose resorts based on certain amenities such as transportation options. Currently, the boat transportation from the Grand Floridian to the Polynesian Village Resort is still available.
