Disney’s Animal Kingdom saw a huge boost in crowd attendance once the Land of Pandora opened in 2017. Although work must be completed to maintain attractions, this is never welcome news. Check out the new permit and find out what this may mean for your favorite attraction.
New Permit Filed
Disney refurbishments are necessary. After all, it’s a great way to ensure everything is up to date or in good working condition! However, they will affect your day if you are visiting while it is happening.
It is good to be aware of what might be closed ahead of your trip so you can adjust plans accordingly. See our master list of refurbishments HERE.
Yesterday, a new permit was filed for 471 W. Savannah Circle which is the location of the large show building for both Na’vi River Journey and Flight of Passage.
Refurbishment
This new permit lists Buena Vista Construction Company as the contractor to provide labor, material, and/ or electrical for construction.
This description may seem a bit vague, but the location for this new permit intrigues us. In January, Jon Landau, producer for Avatar movies visited Walt Disney Imagineering in Glendale, California.
At that time, Landau shared “Had a great day at @waltdisneyimagineering talking about the future.” Could the “future” be a new experience or improvement at Disney’s Animal Kingdom?
How will this affect you?
At this time, it is still anyone’s guess as to which attraction this permit may be for. At times Disney Parks can keep an attraction operational while limiting capacity.
A new permit is now filed for the show building that houses both Flight of Passage and Na’vi River Journey.
We saw this back in 2022 when operational work was being done for the Tower of Terror. Although this increased wait times, guests could still enjoy this attraction. We hope that if this permit is for Flight of Passage, the attraction may remain open at reduced capacity.
What do you think of this new permit? Do you think that this may be for routine maintenance or a new improvement? Share your thoughts with us and share this news with your Disney pals.

It’s okay if closed for my May trip but has to be open for our August trip with the grandkids! But I just hope it will not be closed and impact those on their one time trip as it’s a great ride.
