Disney is at it again to try and bring back their valued customers. A few years ago, Disney shuttered many of its Disney Stores, but now we see a return of the Disney Store once again. Do you think it is smart of Disney to rebrand again?
Disney Changes
It seems like Disney likes to make many changes. At times these are a great change, and at other times we wonder what they were thinking – changes at Theme Parks to Disney Entertainment and even Disney merchandise.
We have seen the good, the bad, and the quite confusing over the years. Just recently, shopDisney Customer Service employees were told of massive layoffs. We were shocked when Disney announced that a third-party company will soon take care of this guest satisfaction department.

Rebranding
Over the years, many local Disney Stores have closed. Interestingly, pop-up Disney shops are now available at Target. This was an interesting shift for many. There was nothing quite like the awe and wonder of visiting your local Disney Store.
Back in 2017, the Walt Disney Company chose to rebrand their online store. The name changed from DisneyStore.com to shopDisney.com. However this was not simply a name change but also a shift to target a new retail audience.
This change was to serve as a one-stop shop by offering a wide variety of products and great brand-name merchandise. Perhaps this rebrand didn’t pan out.
Reportedly, shopDisney will revert to its previous name. This change is reported to happen on February 14th. shopDisney will return to its previous name DisneyStore.com.
We have heard reports that the shopDisney website will be unavailable starting on February 13th at 7:00 pm (PST). The website will reveal its new name change on February 14th at 1:00 am (PST).
Guests will be redirected to the new URL if they continue to use the former shopDisney URL. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see if this name reversal may also change new merchandise lines as well.
Reportedly, the online retailer, shopDisney, will revert to its previous name Disney Store on February 14th.
