Although the Grand Floridian is not the first Disney Resort, it is one of the most well-known. Themed after the Victorian elegance of turn-of-the-century Florida beach towns, the white buildings and red gabled roofs are unmistakable as you enter the Magic Kingdom area.

Did you know the resorts in the Magic Kingdom area reflect the various lands of the park? The Grand Floridian represents Main Street, U.S.A. with its elegant old-time feel.

The resort opened in the summer of 1988 and is home to many restaurants, the Disney Wedding Pavilion, and almost 1,000 rooms. It has become known as Disney’s flagship resort, and it is on the bucket list for many Disney fans despite the high price tag.

Fan Favorite Shops Closed for Refurbishment at Disney World
Credit: Basin White

Basin White quietly closed for refurbishment recently. This included the locations at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney Springs. Disney Springs is the larger location of the two, which makes it the better shopping experience.

However, we are happy to report that the Grand Floridian location is open once again! We do not have word on Disney Springs, so if you head over that way please let us know!

Curious what exactly Basin White is? Basin White is a shop that offers chemical-free bath and skincare items. You can find bath bombs, specialty soaps, sugar scrubs, and even sugar soufflés at Basin White.

You can create your own bath salt tubes, purchase your Mickey confetti-filled bath bomb, and more. Read more about why Donna loves this place so much in this post.

Typical once again of Disney Corp! Really??? Opening a shop instead of a restaurant. 1900 Park Fare, is not only a restaurant but had character dining as well. This would have added additional entertainment for guests of WDW. Additional entertainment helps reduce crowds at the parks. So what does Disney Corp do? They add another shop, which does nothign but give guests a few minutes to spend money on products. Then off to the crowded parks!

What a tease! I thought you were going to say that 1900 Park Fare was reopening. It is one of my favorite places for a fancy buffet, for holidays and Mother's Day.

Gee! I never visited "This". In fact, I don't remember ever seeing "This" in allow my years staying at the Floridian. Is it a boutique or a restaurant?

It’s a cute little “soap boutique” shop upstairs at GF. Has a build your own bath salt tube, bath bombs, lots of different soaps and more. Not very pricey either!
