If you want to participate in running the most magical races on the planet, runDisney is where you want to be! Each year runDisney offers multiple events for those who love endurance races.
These events take place in Walt Disney World and Disneyland. In fact, this year Disney is bringing back the Coast to Coast Challenge!
Marathon Weekend
Marathon Weekend is an extremely popular runDisney Event that offers an array of distances from a 5K to a full marathon! One of the best parts about race weekend is seeing so many rare characters stationed along the course to cheer racers on! For example, during last year’s Marathon, runners got a chance for 42 meet-able characters along the course! See which characters they saw HERE.
Even though Marathon Weekend doesn’t begin until January of 2024, many racers are already gearing up and getting ready to take on the event! That way they can avoid the balloon ladies and enjoy the rush of being welcomed by volunteers distributing medals as they cross the finish line!
The Medals for Marathon Weekend 2024
Speaking of medals, Disney just released a sneak peek at the medals runners will earn as they take on the different courses during Marathon Weekend 2024! And, they are FULL of character.
Walt Disney World 5K
First up is the 5K Medal! You can fetch your very own Pluto medal as you cross the finish line for the shortest of the races at Marathon Weekend. I have to say that this one is dog-gone adorable.
Walt Disney World 10K
This next medal is double the fun-or is it double trouble? Either way, it is a medal to go nuts for. 10k runners will be bringing home some hardware featuring Chip & Dale!
Walt Disney World Half Marathon
The 2024 Walt Disney World Half Marathon features a couple of ducks: Donald and Daisy! Participants will be glad they flocked to race sign-ups when these medals land around their necks!
Walt Disney World Marathon
What medal lineup would be complete without Mickey and Minnie Mouse? Those who complete the most ambitious distance, the Marathon, will be rewarded with Mickey and Minnie Mouse medals featuring the famous pair of mice in their running gear. We’ll chEAR for that!
Challenge Medals
And, of course, those who are goofy enough-I mean good enough- to take on multiple races during Marathon Weekend will get extra medals. Goofy’s Race and a Half participants get a Goofy medal. And those who complete the ULTIMATE challenge, The Dopey Challenge, receive Dopey medals!
