Welcome, Foolish Mortals! You may recall that back in 2020, we found out that Disney had plans for a new live-action Haunted Mansion Movie.

We already learned that the film will have a star-studded cast including Owen Wilson, Tiffany Haddish, Rosario Dawson, and Danny DeVito! Best of all, Jarod Leto is playing the Hatbox Ghost. Additionally, Jamie Lee Curtis will play Madame Leota.

Disney has done a lot of advertising for this movie, including an all new sipper, foodie treats, a special popcorn bucket at select theaters, and even a listing on Zillow.

Disney’s Haunted Mansion just scored the lowest opening weekend for a theme park-inspired movie since the original The Haunted Mansion movie with Eddie Murphy. The Hollywood Reporter reported a 3-day total of $24.2 million.

Disney’s Haunted Mansion came in with a 3-day total of $24.2 million in the box office.

With this low starting weekend, it puts it right under 2003’s The Haunted Mansion. The Haunted Mansion (2003) only earned $24.3 million.

Haunted Mansion (2023) cost $150 million to make, which is not counting the publicity and advertising budget. It has been thought that this movie would have to reach $314 million in order to make a profit!

We went for my 50th bday and all of us LOVED it!! It was just like the ride! The actors were awesome! The only reason it didn't do well now was because Barbie just came out. A lot of my friends did not like Barbie. It was hyped. No way is Barbie better. I think this was one of the best Disney movies in a while!

We saw it. The acting was good. The story line was weak. I would give it a 7/10. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 4.3, I think. It was better than 4.3. But just so-so. I gave it a slightly higher score because of the nostalgic value. Looking at Disney releases and the new Snow White movie, Chapek was overly worried about a creative castmember walk out. Chapek should have kept quiet about the Florida Parental Rights in Education bill and let the creative talent walk out. They have no real talent it seems. Disney, get creative and find your originality. Stop with these remakes, especially with priceless animated classics. It's too risky and you are doing a lousy job with them.
