An Attraction Element Is Now Removed From The Magic Kingdom

Big Changes

There are many changes at Walt Disney World that it is hard to keep track of at times. Disney announced they would cancel their big expansion project in Florida and close Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.

The Walt Disney Company is now offering BIG incentives for guests to visit Walt Disney World this summer with special Theme Park ticket offers and great discounts on resort rooms. Earlier today, they just announced the return of “Bounceback” offers.

It seems that Disney is trying to cut costs where possible and encourage tourism in the Disney Parks, where they make the most of their profits. Change seems imminent these days, and more changes will no doubt be made across the Walt Disney Company in the coming months.

New Closure

Do you want a bit of adventure or a way to break away from the heavy crowds at the Magic Kingdom? Then you have to visit Tom Sawyer Island.

This is a self-guided tour that allows Guests to step into the pages of the classic tales of Tom Sawyer. This is an often-overlooked secret treasure that many Disney fans have not enjoyed.

You can stay on Tom Sawyer Island as long or as short as you would like. However, keep in mind that Tom Sawyer Island closes at 6:00 pm most park days (be sure to check attraction hours on Character Locator).

To reach Tom Sawyer Island, we walked to Tom Sawyer Landing. This is located near Big Thunder Railroad in Frontierland. Our adventure awaited as we boarded a log raft.

Guests hoping to visit this hidden oasis may want to plan accordingly. One of my favorite adventures on this island is the Barrel Bridge. This is much fun to wander across. This attraction is literally a bridge across floating barrels, and it is a bit harder to cross than how it looks.

This Barrel Bridge has been closed to guests for some time, and today the bridge is completely removed. This may be replaced. Disney has not announced plans to change this element at Tom Sawyer Island.
