This is not a drill! You do not want to miss out on this first-ever character interaction.
New Types of Character Interactions
Disney continues to engage with new technology to bring our favorite characters to life. Earlier we shared how Disney is partnering with Apple to bring the magic of the Disney Parks to your home.
Earlier this year, Star Wars fans were overjoyed to see the Mandalorian and Grogu arrive at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This is not the traditional character meet and greet that we are used to, but this takes the magic of Disney storytelling to a new level.
Disney has not stopped there. They introduced an incredible meet and greet with the Hulk as well.
Project Kiwi
Meet the newest wave of character technology. This is not a person dressed up as a character, nor is this an animatronic that is stationary. This new technology affectionally referred to as “Project KIWI” can walk and move around.
He may be small in stature (two and a half feet tall to be exact), but he is clearly big in personality. He easily walks with a simple cable located on his head to allow for programming.
You can check out the three-year journey of “Project KIWI” HERE. It seems like this is not just a project now, but instead an experience. We now have word that testing is now underway for Baby Groot at Disneyland. Select guests are asked to participate in a short demonstration as he is tested out.
We now have word that testing is now underway for Baby Groot at Disneyland.
At this time there is no timeline for when this interaction with Baby Groot may be open to all guests. This will truly allow Guests to feel as though they are interacting and connecting with some of their favorite characters.
You can watch a full testing of Groot below:
What do you think of this new Baby Groot interaction? Are you excited about this new technology or are you a fan of traditional character meet-and-greets? Share your thoughts and share this exciting project with a fellow Disney pal.
