Big Entertainment Changes
Walt Disney World shared that entertainment would return to Disney’s Animal Kingdom in a BIG way this summer. This included the return of some of our favorite characters, the fun return of the acrobatic tumble monkeys, and the opening of the new “Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond.”
Over the summer, one big change was that the many kites featured in the Disney Kite Tails show could be viewed throughout the day along the Discovery River.
Final Show
Earlier we shared that Disney’s Kite Tails performances would soon come to an end. Disney Kite Tails “take the magic of nature and Disney storytelling to new heights, immersing everyone in a gala performance of color and movement.”
Disney Kite Tails first delighted guests with an exciting sneak peek on August 30, 2021. This show experienced a few hiccups throughout its run schedule, After a little over a year, Disney announced that Disney Kite Tails would come to an end.
The final performance was set for Friday, September 30, 2022. In September, the Disney World parks closed on both Wednesday, September 28th, and Thursday, September 29th due to Hurricane Ian. Walt Disney World reopened on Friday, September 30th.
Due to Hurricane Ian, the final show was set a bit earlier than expected for Disney Kite Tails. Disney’s Animal Kingdom did suffer small damages from Hurricane Ian. The pathway for the Disney Flotillas was altered due to fallen debris from the storm.
This morning as we visited Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we noticed that work is now taking place at the Discovery River Theatre near DinoLand U.S.A. It appears that they are now taking apart the platforms that were previously used for Disney Kite Tails.

Many Disney guests felt that this show was a big miss, but others enjoyed the return of outdoor entertainment at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. With the removal of these platforms, it appears Disney Kite Tails will soon be a forgotten entertainment option.
