Guided Tours are a must do for any Disney history fan who wants to learn more about Walt Disney.  One of my favorite experiences while visiting the Magic Kingdom a couple years back was taking the Keys to the Kingdom Tour.  Unfortunately, I have never taken a tour at the Disneyland Resort.

Pre-covid, there were a few guided tours to choose from at the Disneyland Resort.  “Walk in Walt’s Disneyland Footsteps” was available all year and provided access to Walt’s private apartment above the Disneyland Fire Station in Town Square.  Disneyland also offered “The Grand Circle Tour,” “Disney’s Happiest Haunts Tour”, and “Holiday Time.”

Disney Parks has just announced that guests can once again book guided tours at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. There are two different tours that are available to book. “Walt’s Main Street Story” and “Holiday Time at the Disneyland Resort” can be booked through the Disneyland website.  Both offerings are very similar to previous tours that were offered.

The “Walt’s Main Street Story” guided tour will allow guests to go inside Walt Disney’s apartment and learn about the Disney magic behind Main Street U.S.A.  The Disneyland website reads:

Listen as your dedicated tour guide regales you with behind-the-scenes stories and enchanting tidbits throughout this 90-minute experience. Plus, learn about special links to Walt Disney’s boyhood town of Marceline, Missouri.

The tour includes refreshments and access to Disney PhotoPass photos, a walking tour down Main Street, and a commemorative lanyard. It is expected to last 90 minutes and is for ages 3+ – $160 (tax not included).  Guests younger than 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult age 18 or older during the entire experience, and full payment is required at time of purchase.

“Holiday Time at the Disneyland Resort” will show guests how the holiday magic is created at the Disneyland Resort and Disney’s California Adventure Park. The tour is offered daily during Holidays at the Disneyland Resort. Portions of the tour are refreshed each year, so guests can return to enjoy their favorite highlights.

This tour includes reserved viewing for the holiday parade, “A Christmas Fantasy,” holiday treats, a ride on “it’s a small world” Holiday, a wintry treat and more.  According to the Disneyland website, the tour is expected to last 2 hours and 30 minutes. It is for ages 3+ and cost $110 (tax not included).

Guests can book both guided tours up to 60 days in advance. Theme Park tickets and park reservations are required for guests participating in the tours.  Currently, there are no annual pass discounts.

I have already booked both tours for my visit in December. What a wonderful way to ring in the holiday season with Disney magic complete with a visit to Walt’s personal apartment above the Disneyland Fire Station. Stay tuned for both reviews!

I had planned on purchasing the Walt tour, it was $99 before. I think a jump to $160 is a bit excessive, just ridiculous.
