Work is well underway for the Moana attraction at Walt Disney World. Now we have a first look at this unbelievable experience.
Earlier this morning, we shared new concept art for EPCOT. This park is receiving a HUGE overhaul and we love it. The newly reimagined EPCOT will soon be completed in 2023. Check out this timeline HERE.
This new concept art includes a first look at the new EPCOT Gardens area with a large overview of the World Celebration area. World Celebration is one of the four new neighborhoods that make up EPCOT. Be sure to check out the new permanent meeting location for this reimagined EPCOT HERE.
EPCOT is truly on a path of reimagination. Guests visiting EPCOT still see construction walls and work underway for what will soon become the “Journey of Water” attraction for Moana.
Initial Plan for “Journey of Water”
When first announced, the “Journey of Water” was scheduled to welcome guests in October 2021 in time for the 50th Anniversary celebrations. That timeline was adjusted as this project is still well underway.
The original concept art (pictured above) featured a large flowing waterfall centerpiece with a heart of Te Fiti-inspired design. Additional models show a walking trail that winds through greenery and other island-inspired forest areas.
New Update for “Journey of Water”
Today, Imagineer Zach Riddley shared an updated image of the plans for “Journey of Water.” This new attraction will be located in the World of Nature neighborhood.
Riddley shares, “Journey of Water will immerse guests in a lush environment, and it is here that the story of the global cycle of water will be brought to life in a story completely unique to EPCOT. We’re creating an outdoor attraction for all ages, where you will be invited to play and interact with water as it travels from our skies to our oceans and back again.“
“The spaces and experiences within were inspired by Moana’s friendship with water and her devotion to protecting nature around her.”

This space looks like an oasis and reminds us of the lush, beautiful landscape of Pandora but with a unique theming all its own. We love the image of the water hopping from location to location overhead. Can you imagine yourself getting swept away in this beautiful land?
