The theme parks are the main draw of a Disney vacation, but many guests enjoy spending some time at their resort. It can be nice to take a “day off” from the parks or enjoy some time in between park visits to enjoy a resort’s accommodations.

Disney resorts also offer many recreation options for guests to take advantage of, and many are free! There are a variety of activities offered that appeal to all ages as well.

The last year and a half has featured many refurbishments around the Polynesian resort. There are new Moana rooms, DVC refurbishments, and club level enhancements. In addition there was a new arrival experience and water features (like the one pictured above) added to the front entrance. Maggie has a review from a recent stay in the Moana rooms, while Jaelyn has a review of newly refurbished DVC studios.

In addition, news of a Polynesian DVC expansion dropped recently, and I (Joe) was disappointed that Spirit of Aloha will not be returning. On a brighter note, I was happy to see a pre-pandemic service return as another signal for a return to “normal.” The links above can get you caught up!

Here is a look at the May recreation schedule for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, including some special activities for the 50th Anniversary Celebration and a hit movie that will likely have the audience singing along.

As we shared last month, the campfire has been removed from the recreation schedule again in May. Maybe we can expect the campfire and S’mores to return when the weather turns cooler?

Looking for a nice way to unwind and end your day? Enjoy a Movie Under the Stars on the Great Ceremonial House Lawn featuring a Disney classic.

In May, you can view the popular hit Encanto! I’m sure the audience will be singing along to the hits that have dominated the music charts in the last few months. Fittingly, today we just shared an update about an Encanto attraction coming to Disney. Movies start at 8:30PM according to the following schedule for May:

This month guests can enjoy three activities for an additional fee. Contact guest services for prices for May. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:00-6:30PM guests can design and create their own Kukui Nut Lei to celebrate Polynesian Culture in the Great Ceremonial House Lobby.

On Tuesdays and Saturdays from 5:00-6:00PM paint a Tiki Mask out at the Seven Seas Marina.

In addition, on Sunday and Thursday from 5:00-6:00PM guests can make their own Mickey Tye Die shirt. This arts and craft favorite (with a Disney twist) is located at the Seven Seas Marina next to the Lava Pool Deck. In the event of inclement weather this activity, along with the Tiki Mask activity, would be moved to the lobby.
