Disney’s Polynesian Resort hotel has been undergoing a bit of a facelift! See the awesome new rooms at this fan favorite resort!
If you’ve been lucky enough to stay at Disney’s Polynesian resort, you may have noticed the rooms are a bit dated.
Personally, I prefer the newer DVC studios to the regular resort rooms at the Polynesian. Read Kate’s review of these studios HERE.
When we stayed in the Hawaii building in 2019, we felt the room was overpriced and needed remodeled. Check out how it compares to the Yacht Club resort here.
Moana
And we got our wish! Disney has been working hard on refurbishing the rooms as well as the Great Ceremonial House and monorail station at this resort!
Not only that, the Polynesian rooms incorporate Disney’s latest Polynesian intellectual property: Moana!
Moana’s story, music and characters often get overshadowed by Frozen. However, both movies are fantastic! Now, Moana will get the recognition she deserves!
Remodel
The room update follows in the new tradition of replacing carpeted floors with hardwood floors. Much easier to keep clean!
These hardwood floors are particularly beautiful! I love the herringbone pattern and the contrast of the light and dark wood.
Here you can see the wall opposite the headboards a little better. Maui’s tattoos provided the inspiration for this wallpaper.
Who wouldn’t want to be greeted first thing in the morning by Hei Hei?
Make your coffee in this Keurig brand coffee maker while Hei Hei looks on.
You can also enjoy this beautiful painting of Moana and Pua looking out at the ocean. And look at those headboards! Gorgeous!
One thing I do recall about the Polynesian rooms? They had nice, large bathrooms! You can see the remodeled bathroom below!
Hopefully they added the clothesline back in because we had swim suits all over our room!

Book Now for Later in 2021
The rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Resort can be booked now! The resort is expected to open in July 2021, but Disney did not share a specific date yet. However, back in January, we discovered a possible reopening date!
