Disney Parks Blog shared some details about what will be possible with the new MagicBand+.

  • Interact with the "Disney Fab 50 Character Collection," the golden sculptures spread throughout the Walt Disney World theme parks.
  • Experience nighttime spectaculars in a new way as you see your band light up and complement the magic in the skies, including the new "Harmonious" at EPCOT and "Disney Enchantment" at Magic Kingdom Park.

  1. I would buy the solid color Magicband Plus. The special decorated Magicband Plus are to much money for me to spend so that one of a no for me.

  2. Absolutely not interested--at any cost (even free). The convenience of the previous magic bands was one of the main reasons we chose to stay on property. If these are no longer included, we may stay elsewhere. We liked them only for convenience, not as an object on our wrists.

  3. Will there be a special one for Csdt Members, & at a discounted price? They certainly will not be able to show off the features when they can’t afford one.

  4. With all the choices people have to chose from, I would like to this magic band. I’m a regular to the park and would enjoy a new band

  5. Special edition magic bands were already coming in at expensive prices that I would never have paid. I'm going to continue using our current magic bands that each one of us personally selected until they eventually crap out and stop working. In general I don't see it as any real upgrade since my fitbit already does enough vibrations while walking 10 miles during a Park day!

  6. First, I think lots of people would like this. Kids especially will enjoy something interactive and if it's $50 to give a kid something else to do during lines it might be money well spent. Second, Walt wouldn't have passed up an opportunity to earn more money, so I don't think your "good old days" image is meaningful in that way... after all, when the parks opened they charged both for admission and for tickets. Anyway, it's not reasonable to expect Disney to stop charging so much, when they already have trouble accommodating crowds. Also, unlike Genie+, these are a genuine extra, there's nothing required here and they aren't replacing something similar but free.

What I do think is more important than how much money can or must be spent to enjoy the parks is how well "the cast" is compensated and whether the quality of extras is really there. Honestly, most of the souvenirs are still good quality and workmanship. The restaurants didn't have as consistent a quality, however, and some places that were supposedly good ended up disappointing (and I'm not talking the space themed one, I mean classic spots) but honestly there was some great food still too.

And aside from that, Disney has put out some fabulous films this year, last year, and the year before, even if they pointedly need to find a new way to rank a films "success" besides the box office, if things are going to come out on streaming at or near the same time. The overall quality AND volume of their media output has been great. It's hard for me to see Disney as being in any kind of "slump", so if Chapek does right by the employees in terms of appropriate compensation, he'll be alright by me.

  7. I think I’ll stay with my regular magic bands. They do what I need, open my door, get me in the park and pay for my food other purchases. I don’t have to interact withh the golden ones or be in sync with the shows, especially for. $50. Besides, I like the special bands I already own.

  8. Does it say how long one charge would last? With all the lighting and vibrations, is there a chance the battery could die during a day in the park? That’s something I wouldn’t want to have to worry about.

  9. Well, since Disney decided to out price the parks for but the wealthy, I guess it doesn't matter.
We had been going to a Disney Park, since our girls were small, ever so many years. My daughter carried on the tradition with her children
But, since Disney raised their prices to everything, discontinued perks, claiming Corona cost a loss in profit,. However, the out going CEO , raised his pay about $1.4 million on his way out, stated that the launch of Disney Plus offset the company's loss of revenue.
Then the new CEO comes in, also with more that $1 million dollar raise, claims adjustments must be made to gain back the money lost in he pandemic (Huh? I thought Disney Plus offset that loss), and starts raising prices, discontinuing perks that were an incentive to visit their park and not another, and start construction projects that cost millions, instead of holding up until things settled, say for a year.
Now, if visitors want to get into their rooms, use the park tickets they bought, get a fast past... oh wait, that perk now cost money too, they have to BUY a arm band too?
Sorry. Not doing it, even if I could afford it.
Disney is not the happiest place on the earth. It's the Greediest place on Earth.
    Enjoy catering to the rich.
Mr.Disney must be rolling around in his grave at the way his park, his dream has been corrupted.

  10. Unless you like to be dazzled by colors and harassed further by it “ vibrating “, what is the point ?? Oh I know. Another way to gouge guests who are already paying excessively for everything now. Chapek needs to go do some of Walt’s magic can return.

  11. One more ‘thing’. I’d rather see them develop out more to make use of my Apple Watch as my magic band. It has all the starting tech needed to make use of it in much the same way and I already have it. I don’t need more stuff or waste.

  12. I was sent the survey, too. The $50 for the decorated + was on the high side; they also had a question where it was $35. And all the priced included an AP $5 discount.

  13. Everything with a + is overpriced. All the perks for staying on property have been taken away. Extra hours have gone down to 30 minutes. It seems to me that Magic bands should be more affordable since everything is linked to them.
Genie+ should be just like Fastpasses with having the ability to choose 3 selections and adding 1 at a time. Where is the magic if you constantly are on the phone scheduling the next activity?

  14. Too much money to buy the bands...It should be included in a package deal. Purchasing Genie + and magic bands and Lightning lanes can really add up for families.

  15. 49.99 is a bit ridiculous but that is what’s been happening across Disney. Pricing a lot if people out. Pretty sure it’s being done strategically

  16. I've been thinking of getting a new one for our trip this year, but nothing stood out as 'really' liking the color/character. The Magicband+, has some cool options, but a hike from $29.99 to $50 to have a picture on it?!?! So far I have no one item I MUST HAVE for a souvenir, so this may be my 'splurge' purchase.

  17. I definitely want these for my trip in May. How can I get the survey since I'm booked at a Disney hotel? And when will these be available to order? It's crazy they weren't ready for January. Thx!

  18. I would buy one for my nephew, as he does not own or use an Apple Watch. Having his ticket on my watch, was not seamless when scanning to get into the parks this last trip. It would be better for our party if he were able to use a magic band. I brought one of his old ones “just in case” the smart watch functionality of MDE and tickets didn’t work the way I hoped, and after day one, he used a plain MagicBand. This next trip is a surprise for him, so hopefully MB+ will be available so I can get him one.
