Space 220 is a new table service restaurant, which will be located next to Mission: SPACE. Upon entering the restaurant you will take a special elevator that will take you 220 miles above Earth. You are made to feel like you are docking next to the Centauri Space Station, which is suspended just beyond the orbit of Mission: SPACE. You will be able to enjoy daytime and nighttime views of Earth.

When brought to your seats, you will walk past the grow zone, which is a spinning wall of produce that is meant to mimic the Earth’s gravity. The produce will represent the fresh ingredients used by the culinary team.

We have been waiting for the opening of Epcot’s Space 220 for a few years now! What was supposed to be open in the winter of 2019-2020 has turned into much longer with several delays. If you have been keeping up with our blog, we have outlined those delays a few times. You can read about them HERE.

New Job Postings and Opening Timeline

Patina Restaurant Group is the company that manages Space 220 and other restaurants on Disney World property. They recently posted new job listings for positions like server, cook, busser, host, and more.

This led us to believe we were finally headed towards an official opening announcement. While the Disney World restaurant simply notes “Coming Soon”, Patina Restaurant Group did confirm its opening timeline with Reporter Scott Gustin. Check out his tweet below:

With a Fall 2021 opening, I imagine this will coincide with the 50th anniversary celebrations of Disney World. Epcot will celebrate 39 years young on October 1 as well, and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is also set to open on that same day.

Disney will be trying to grab as much publicity as it can for the celebrations, and adding a new attraction and restaurant around the same time certainly makes sense. It will make a busy time, though!
