Refurbishments continue to be a needed, but dreaded word, around the Disney Parks. Check out the refurbished attraction that was scheduled to welcome Guests in the Magic Kingdom today.
In theory, we all understand that refurbishments are a very necessary part of keeping each Park magical. However, it is sad when one of your favorite rides, attractions, or even photo opportunities are affected by an extended refurbishment.
We recently posted a master list of refurbishments found around the Walt Disney World Parks. You can read all about these refurbishments HERE.
We are all excited for the 50th Anniversary celebrations for the Magic Kingdom this year. In preparation for this golden anniversary, Walt Disney World will be completing refurbishments to make sure this event is even more magical.
Currently Peter Pan’s Flight is receiving a refurbishment. Due to the popularity of this attraction and the need for social distancing this has created a bit of a “bottle-neck” with current scrim in place. Check this out HERE.
Occasionally refurbishments occur ahead of schedule such as with the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island. Then there are the refurbishments that we question if they will ever end such as with Tomorrowland’s People Mover.
Mad Hatter Tea Party
At the beginning of February we shared that the Mad Hatter Tea Party in Fantasyland would be receiving a refurbishment. It was scheduled to go from February 22 to March 5 (today).
Today Guests entered the Magic Kingdom to discover that work was still being completed on the Mad Hatter tea cups. This was short-lived and Guests were soon welcomed onto this favorite attraction.
Unfortunately, the celebration was short-lived. Cast Members announced that the attraction was temporarily unavailable and work resumed. A few moments later this attraction reopened AGAIN.
Currently 2 teacups have been identified as “unoperational” and are covered to not allow Guests. We are hoping that it may run smoothly the rest of the day. Kate, a KtP writer, shares, “It’s tough to be a teacup!”
After a few delays the Mad Hatter Tea Party is spinning Guests once again in Fantasyland.
What do you think of this less than triumphant return from refurbishment? Do you love the Mad Hatter Tea Party? Share your thoughts with us on our Facebook Page.
