Recently thousands of talented Cast Members have lost their employment. Find out how you can help support these Cast Members this Christmas season.
Massive Disney Layoffs
In September, the Walt Disney Company shared that Cast Members in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World would experience massive layoffs. Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products , shared, “Approximately 28,000 domestic employees will be affected, of which about 67% are part-time. We are talking with impacted employees as well as to the unions on next steps for union-represented Cast Members.“
We were sad to learn that many of our favorite entertainers across Walt Disney World would be let go during this massive layoff including The Festival of the Lion King, Finding Nemo, Turtle Talk, The Citizens of Hollywood, Jedi Training, and the Citizens of Main Street.
There were even more great Cast Members and performers that are no longer creating the magic in the Disney Parks. Our hearts went out to those affected by these layoffs. Many asked how we could help. We were happy to share of the Cast Member Food Pantry and even help from a former Magic Kingdom vice-president.
