Today, it was revealed that Walt Disney World would now only be accepting reservations after July 1.

This past week, we learned Disney Springs would begin a phased reopening beginning May 20th, and Shanghai Disneyland announced they would be reopening on May 11. This news was hopeful for many who wondered if they would be able to visit Walt Disney World this summer.

Previously, we shared that Walt Disney World would be accepting Resort reservations after June 1 and beyond. Today we learned that this date has been pushed back.

The following update has been released to travel agents.

40,000 Cast Members Furlough Details in Newest Agreement

We’ve announced a phased reopening of Disney Springs area at Walt Disney World Resort, starting May 20. As a reminder, the rest of Walt Disney World and Disneyland theme parks and resort hotels, as well as the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort, are currently closed, and a reopening date has not been identified. For guests who are interested in modifying their existing travel dates or making a new reservation for a future vacation, reservations are currently available for arrival dates July 1, 2020, and later. As always, Guests are able to modify these bookings subject to availability if Walt Disney World or Disneyland theme parks and resort hotels open before or after that time.

Cancellations due to closures

Disney has been regularly notifying Guests whose Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort hotel bookings are being impacted by our temporary closures, letting them know they may modify or cancel their Disney Resort hotel reservations or Walt Disney Travel Company packages.

Disney is asking Guests who didn’t book directly with Disney to call their Travel Professional. We expect that this notification process will continue one week at a time, including any potential reservations cancelled in June 2020.

Offers and Ticket

For guests who are interested in modifying their existing travel dates or making a new reservation for a future vacation, reservations are currently available for arrival dates July 1, 2020 and later.

At Walt Disney World Resort, guests wishing to make new reservations can save up to 25% on rooms at select Disney Resort hotels for stays most nights through August 31, 2020, when they book through August 31, 2020.

Please know that no new bookings are being taken on the Walt Disney World summer recovery offer. The Florida Resident Discover Disney ticket is no longer available for purchase. For Guests who have this ticket, the usage window has been extended through September 30, 2020.

At this time, there does not appear to be any availability for new June reservations on Disney World’s website. Kenny the Pirate writers searched every category for various June dates and no resorts showed availably. Please be sure to let us know if you are able to book a new reservation in June!

It is important to note this news does not indicate a potential reopening date of July 1, but as mentioned in the release, June vacations may be cancelled.

I'm due to arrive from the UK on July 18th and this morning received an E-mail from Disney reminding me to make final payment in 14 days. Surely they will extend that deadline if no-one know if the parks will be open?

My reservation for the week of June 27 is still showing in my plans as of this moment and I have not received any communication from Disney of that changing. Where was this announcement made regarding July 1st?
