During The Walt Disney Company Q2 2020 Earnings Meeting, Bob Chapek shared some good news on the conference call!

Shanghai Disneyland will be reopening very soon!

Shanghai Disneyland partially resumed operations back in March, after closing in January due to COVID-19. A limited number of shopping, dining, and recreational experiences were available in Disneytown, Wishing Star Park, and Shanghai Disneyland Hotel.

We reported back in April that temperature screenings and the use of QR codes would be implemented for guests wanting to enter Shanghai Disneyland.

China is using a color-coded QR code system for all residents based on their temperature and personal habits.

There will be a phased approach to the reopening and will include the use of masks, temperature screenings, and other measures.

Joe Schott, who is the President and General Manager of Shanghai Disney Resort just shared an announcement on the Disney Parks Blog. Read sections of the official announcement below:

Today, as residents in Shanghai and its neighboring provinces have returned to more normal life – including at workplaces, schools, shops, restaurants, and entertainment destinations – I’m excited to share that Shanghai Disneyland will also be reopening to the public on May 11.

As we welcome guests back to the park, we will draw on the learnings from the reopening of Disneytown and Wishing Star Park, and we will implement new and enhanced health and safety measures reflecting the guidance of our local health and government authorities. While some things will look a little different, know that that a magical experience awaits you at Shanghai Disneyland. Now, more than ever, Shanghai Disney Resort is a special place for families and fans to create joyful memories and celebrate being together once again.

This will likely be similar to what we will experience at Disney Parks in the United States once they reopen. The Orange County Task Force has discussed some initial guidelines that may take place. You can read more about those HERE.

Bob Chapek has announced Shanghai Disneyland will reopen on May 11, which is next Monday.
