Review: Primo Piatto at Disney’s Riviera Resort

My family and I recently stopped by to check out the new Riviera Resort. Since we were on the Quick Service Dining Plan, we ate dinner at Primo Piatto. Read on for my thoughts and honest review.

After exploring the grounds of this beautiful resort, we were hungry for dinner! We located Primo Piatto near the pool and headed in. The first thing we noted was how incredibly busy it was!

Primo Piatto has an open kitchen, so you can look in and see them hard at work. I ordered the Grilled Hangar Steak, my husband had the Croque Monsieur, and our son opted for the omnipresent cheese pizza and fruit.

We were able to snag a table, but there was no time to wait for a Cast Member to clean them between guests! Luckily, we weren’t starving because our food took about 30 minutes. “Primo Piatto: We take the quick out of quick service,” I quipped.

Table stalking: my least favorite hobby at Disney, but necessary on busy days.

At last, our food arrived, and we felt it was worth the wait! My husband thoroughly enjoyed his sandwich. Everything on my plate was spectacular.

Even the carrots were great! The tomato soup he ordered as a side was good too! Felt like the cheese pizza could have had more cheese.

I am still impressed that a quick-service dining location had such a good steak and that it was cooked to a pretty perfect medium rare! Should all mashed potatoes have cheese? Yes, yes they should.

We are eager to try this restaurant again. Everything was great, except for the time spent. Definitely do not choose this one if you’re in a rush.

Take some time to check out the art adorning the walls of this eatery.

The restaurant had a very modern feel, with clean, white decor and bright lights. Even the Coca Cola Freestyle machine looked fancy, though the only difference between it and others on property that I could tell was that it was brand new and white.

As for the Riviera, there were parts of it that looked wonderful and there were parts of it that looked a little sterile even decorated for the holidays. We loved the Skyliner and the tile mosaics depicting Tangled and Peter Pan out near the walkway to it.

One Disney touch we especially liked were the foreign language movie posters on the ground floor of the resort.
